Ram Gopal Varma and Nagarjuna’s cult classic film, ‘Shiva’ which is regarded as one of the evergreen film of all time that has redefined the standards of Tollywood has recently completed 25 years. This film is the debut film of Ram Gopal Varma which was released on October 5, 1989 and many star directors like Krishna Vamsi, Siva Nageswara Rao and Teja have worked for this film as assistant directors.
Now this college revenge drama is digitally restored and remastered with the advanced techniques available today. The sound of this new version has been supervised by RGV. About two years hardwork had gone in to restoring and enhancing the quality from the old physical prints. The makers of this film have reportedly planned to have a big release for this remastered version on May 15th in limited screens across both the Telugu States.
Latest update is that Nagarjuna wants to put up some decent promotion for this film by releasing as many as 20 trailers of the film and and it is said that they would be scrolled across different media platforms. Those days it was only the posters which were the source of medium to take the film into the people’s notice as there was no concept of trailers in the past. So, these trailers can act as a huge promotion to bring in the younger generations who could not see the original flick to the theaters.
Amala played the female lead in this movie while Late Raghuvaran and JD.Chakravarthy played the negative roles. S.Gopal Reddy is the cinematographer of the film. Akkineni Nagarjuna and his brother Akkineni Venkat produced this movie on Annapurna Studios banner. Maestro Ilayaraja provided the music which was a smashing hit that time. Let’s hope these trilers can bring some more money for this classic film !!
