It looks like tax exemption provision is coming for a good rescue of film makers these days, whenever whoever makes a film on a region or celebrity base. We have recently seen makers of “Mary Kom” have got tax exemption from Manipur state and made huge profits. It must have inspired Telugu film maker Gunasekhar who has also decided to ask for tax exemption from Telangana state,as his latest project deals with renowned Queen Rani Rudramadevi who hails from that soil.
As Guna’s latest movie ‘Rudramadevi 3D’ happens to be the story of Queen Rudramadevi of Kakatiya Empire situated around present day Kakatiya Empire, he has met Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao to see tax exemption for the movie. Featuring Anushka in the lead role, Rana, Bunny and Catherine Teresa in supporting roles, this high budgeted historical flick that depends on extensive visual effects is directed and produced by Gunasekhar himself.
As the film is likely to hit the screens in December itself (a possible shift to Sankranthi also indicated), our director appealed to T-government. As KCR considers Rudrama to be pride of Telangana, he is unlikely to decline this entertainment tax exemption request. Afterwards, Guna might appeal the same to Andhra Pradesh government too.
As he has shelled out huge amount for “Rudrama Devi”, it would be so pathetic for Gunasekhar if the movie gets a divide talk or flop talk. Lets wish this talented director all the very best.
