There is no introduction required for SP Balasubrahmanyam who is well known to the South Indian music celebrating his birthday today. Balasubrahmanyam was born into an Orthodox Telugu Brahmin family in Konetammapeta near Nellore, Andhra Pradesh. He is the second son in a family of three sons and five daughters. His father S. P. Sambamurthy was a well-known exponent of Harikatha and his sister S.P. Sailaja is a former actress-singer in Tollywood, married to Subhalekha Sudhakar. He has a daughter, Pallavi and son, S. P. B. Charan.He was born on June 4th, 1946 Konetammapeta, Nellore district, Andhra Pradesh. He made his film debut as a playback singer in 1966 with Sri Sri Sri Maryada Ramanna. Later without looking his back he has sung more than 40,000 songs in 15 Indian languages compromising of Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi, Marathi, English, Bengali, Oriya, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Assamese, Konkani, Badaga and Gondi. He has the rare distinction of rendering most number of songs on a single day by any singer. He has recorded 21 songs in Kannada for the composer Upendra Kumar in Bangalore from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm on February 8th, 1981 and 19 songs in Tamil, 16 songs in Hindi in a day which is a notable achievement and a record.
