‘Pochampally IKAT art Mela 2017’ a 7- days Hand woven Eco friendly Handloom Products exhibition Kick starts at Sri Uma Ramalingeswara Swamyvari Kalyana Mandapam, Jampet. Former mayor Mrs.Veera Raghavamma and her husband Mr. Adhi Reddy Apparao Member A.P. Legislaitive Council, formally Inaugurated the mela and Muncipal Corporator Medapati Sharmila Reddy Light the traditional Lamp and graced by Bhavani.
On the occasion Veera Raghavamma and Adhi Reddy, said that “It’s nice to see various apparel, particularly Ikat Fabrics, silk and cotton saris, to be showcased for the Handloom Fashion Connoisseurs in City.
“Handlooms are part of an age old Indian tradition – element of Indian culture and rich artistry” says Sharmila .
We support the artisans and local community who have been passing on their skills for generations. Promoting creativity and originality, each design is a result of individual artisan’s creativity which is influenced by the local traditions and cultures “said Mr Chikka Krishna founder chairman- Pochampally Handloom Park.
The Expo will be on till 28th June 2017, 10:00 am to 8pm.
