On the whole, Srimanthudu is a stunning emotional family drama which will hit the right chords with one and all. Mahesh Babu’s career best performance and a novel concept are huge assets. Barring the slightly predictable nature of the film, Mahesh’s fans can rejoice as their superstar makes a come back with a vengeance and thoroughly entertains from the word go. Finally, a simple, clean and meaningful family entertainer which is set to rule the box office in the coming weeks. A Must Watch.
Rich Blend of Content and Commerce.Srimanthudu will not only please Mahesh fans but also win the hearts of movie lovers. We can expect this film to conquer the box office as well.
First half of the film is has class and romance with a superb interval block. Second half has nice emotions and action sequences. Plus points of the film are good storyline, Mahesh Babu’s performance, good emotions and right direction. On the flip side, the second half is little too lengthy. Srimanthudu is a perfect example of what happens when a huge star like Mahesh Babu opts for a content based film without going for beaten-to-death-entertainment-based movies. Srimanthudu will be a feather in Mahesh Babu’s cap and will be a big blockbuster as well. Go and watch it!!

Chitramala Rating: 3.5/5
A drawback of the film is background score by DSP. Other drawbacks include family of Harsha who aren’t convincing enough (except Rahul Ravindran) and the lengthy action scenes in pre-climax. However, these minor flaws were compensated well by the penultimate scene having Harsha and Ravi Kanth. The father-son equation and their perspectives of life have been written so well.
‘Srimanthudu’ is a rare kind of film that has good content despite having a top star in the lead role. In an age where formulaic screenplay, comedy and a few fights are being packaged and marketed as commercial cinema, Srimanthudu comes across as a breath of fresh air. It has its faults, but as a whole, the film just works very well.
Director Koratala Siva’s Srimanthudu has every ingredient that you ask for from a commercial entertainer. From action, romance, humour, melodrama, songs, dance moves to emotional sentiments, there is a bit of it all to make things sufficiently spicy. But only if you go for the film without much expectation, Srimanthudu may turn out to be a watchable fare at best. The film’s real trump card, is Mahesh Babu who has given a tremendous performance in the lead role.
A family entertainer with mass appeal, thanks to Mahesh’s understated acting. A few remarkable moments come in the form of good fight scenes.
Mahesh Babu’s powerful act and engaging story makes it a delightful film. The film is for both classes and masses. If you want pure entertainment, then watch Sriamanthudu this weekend.
Dialogues written by the director will also make the fans happy. When Mahesh beats a rowdy, another one comes forward to beat him, then Mahesh tells to this guy: “Nenu Ikkade Untanu..repu kooda untanu..vaade kadatledu..mundu vaani choodandi.” Mahesh taking selfie with a rowdy is another hilarious moment in the film.
Koratala Shiva who tasted success with mass entertainer Mirchi on debut, this time tried to be different. With Prince Mahesh Babu too every ready to experiment, Shiva decided to show Mahesh in a completely different manner without compromising on his style. He included powerful message to people and society in general in a commercial entertainer.
On a whole, the film has everything. It has all the required elements to work at the box office. The only problem is the run time and the slowness in the narration. In all the departments, the film unit have given their best. There are no forced dialogues, no forced comedy, no forced emotions. Everything is natural and the director did not deviate himself at any point of the film.
Taking into account all the handicaps in narration, ‘Srimanthudu’ rating is worth 3 stars. Shortening the length and better climax could have made the movie more appreciative on critics’ front. For common audience and Mahesh Babu Fans, this is a paisa vasool entertainer. Commercially, ‘Srimanthudu’ is going to stick at Box Office to recreate new wonders.
Finally, Srimanthudu is fresh deviation from the mindless formulaic films coming in Telugu in the recent times. We rarely see content being respected in a star film and that too with out losing the commercial value. Koratala and Mahesh does the trick with Srimanthudu. Go enjoy it!

There are nice little touches in the narrative, like the small-time vendor keeping a count of the families remaining in the village as many leave to the city for better prospects. Then, there’s the portion where Rajendra Prasad (the do-gooder witnessing the slow decay of his village over the years and is yet optimistic of future) is unable to say anything when his own brother’s family wants to leave.
