It is a known fact that Director Shankar is one of those top film makers of the country who charges a bomb per film. In fact, he is the one who made directors take fat pay checques for the first time. Shanker is known for high budget films right from the early stages of his career. His films are well known for their grandeur all through. With his latest offing I, made with a budget of nearly Rs 200 Crore, received mixed reviews and difficult to do wonders at Box Office, the wide discussion in Tamil Nadu is that whether director Shankar cuts his remuneration?
Recently we have seen Director Sreenu Vaitla offered to do a film for “free” with Aagadu producers, for the huge loss of “Aagadu”. And also we have seen director Trivikram Srinivas and powerstar Pawan Kalyan returned part of their remunerations to producer BVSN Prasad for “piracy fiasco” prior to the release of “Attharintiki Daaredi”. So, Kollywood is waiting to see whether Shankar admits his failure and cut his pay for the film.
We know that the distributors of ” Lingaa” are vying up for Rajini and producer Rockline for their losses, but none of them responded positively. Although I is faring well now, trade pundits predicts that it will not be easy for the film to sustain long with this “poor” word of mouth talk. Let us see if Shanker realizes the loss and return some part of his remuneration to the makers of ” I ” and proves himself to be a “Gentleman”?
